Mexico City offers a wide range of lodging options for IRMEC 2025 attendees (November 3–7), from five-star hotels to more affordable alternatives such as hostels or short-term rental apartments. Early booking is recommended, as the conference coincides with the Day of the Dead season, when the city receives a large influx of national and international visitors

Short-term rentals through platforms such as Airbnb are also widely available near the CICATA venue. These may be suitable for longer or more flexible stays.

How to get to the venue

The conference will take place at CICATA Legaria, Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN).

Address: Calzada Legaria No. 694, Colonia Irrigación, Alcaldía Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City (The entrance is via Presa Salinillas Street).

FROM POLANCO

Walking: 3–4 km (30–45 minutes). Sidewalks in Polanco and Irrigación are generally in good condition.

Taxi/Uber: 10–20 minutes; approx. MXN 60–100 (USD 3–5). Recommended option for comfort.

Metro: Line 7 (Polanco → Tacuba), transfer to Line 2 toward Cuatro Caminos → Panteones Station. 25-minute walk (2 Km). Total: 40–45 minutes. Cost: MXN 5.

Bus (microbus or RTP): 20–30 minutes. Cost: MXN 5–6. Limited accessibility.

FROM THE HISTORIC CENTER

Taxi/Uber: 25–40 minutes; approx. MXN 130–180 (USD 7–10). Direct and comfortable option.

Metro: Line 2 from Zócalo/Bellas Artes/Hidalgo toward Cuatro Caminos → Panteones Station. 25-minute walk. Total: 40–45 minutes. Cost: MXN 5.

Metrobús + taxi: Line 7 from Reforma to Auditorio, then taxi to Legaria. 40–60 minutes. Cost: MXN 80–100.

ACCESSIBILITY CONSIDERATIONS

At the venue: CICATA Legaria has a street-level entrance. Please contact the organizing committee if you require assistance.

Public transport: The Metro has limited accessibility (stairs in many stations). The Metrobús and taxis are more accessible.

Sidewalks: Polanco generally has ramps at corners; Irrigación may lack ramps

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Climate in November: Mild to cool (12–22 °C / 54–72 °F). Occasional showers possible.

Currency: Mexican Peso (MXN). Credit cards widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops. Carry some cash for taxis or small vendors.

Electrical outlets: Type A/B (same as USA/Canada), 127V.

Safety: Use official taxis or apps (Uber, Didi). Avoid carrying large sums of cash.

Connectivity: Free Wi-Fi in most hotels and cafes. Mobile data widely available.

Cultural activity (Excursion)

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, IRMEC participants are invited to join a guided tour of Chapultepec Park. The most iconic park of Mexico City. The tour will be conducted in tourist buses (Turibus) departing from the Soumaya Museum at 11:15 hours.

We will enjoy lunch at the Bistró Chapultepec restaurant by the Chapultepec Lake, surrounded by nature and scenic views. After the restaurant, participants will have the option to visit either the Chapultepec Castle or the National Museum of Anthropology, two of the city’s most remarkable landmarks.

The tour will conclude with a final stop in Mexico City’s Historic Center, offering participants a glimpse of its vibrant cultural and architectural heritage.

The total cost of the cultural activity —including transportation, museum entrance, and lunch— is approximately MXN 1022 (~USD 55) per person. Please note that this activity is not covered by the conference. Each participant must pay for their own participation.

We recommend you bring comfortable shoes or sneakers, sunscreen, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and extra money for souvenirs. Don’t forget to take pictures!

From 17:00(End of the Tour) Historic CenterFinally, we will head to the Historic Center, where participants will be free to explore and visit the monuments, museums, or cantinas of their choice. This part of the tour is open-ended and self-guided, and each participant will be responsible for their own transportation back to their hotel.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at the historic Café de Tacuba, a Mexican restaurant located in Mexico City’s Historic Center. This event offers participants the opportunity to enjoy traditional cuisine in a convivial atmosphere while networking with colleagues.


The conference organization will provide complimentary transportation (Uber) from CICATA Legaria to Café de Tacuba, departing at 5:15 p.m. The meeting and departure point will be the CICATA Legaria entrance.


Each attendee will cover their own expenses. The estimated cost per person ranges from MXN 800 to 1,500 (~USD 43–79), depending on the choice of dishes and whether alcoholic beverages are included.
